Mainboard Asus P5S800-VM
There is a problem with this motherboard and Linux: issuing the reboot
command the computer hangs just after the message:
Rebooting system.
I tested it with a Debian and 2.6.8 kernel, Knoppix 4.0.2 and Puppy Linux 1.0.7. I tried several advised workaround, but with no luck:
CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF
kernel optionCONFIG_ACPI_POWER
kernel optionpci=noacpi
boot parameter
Chipset is SiS 661FX, SiS 964, latest BIOS revision (ASUS 1015).
Finally we found a fix for this crappy piece of hardware: just add the BootPrompt parameter reboot=b into the GRUB or LILO configuration file.
